POW - Powerful Overcomer of War

Ken and Barbie Cordier

Ken and Barbie Cordier

Today we are honored and thrilled to have back with us for another week Retired Colonel Ken Cordier, United States Air Force, along with his wife, Barbie Cordier.  Ken’s segment last week was entitiled “Ken Cordier…Prisoner of War,” and if you missed it, please go to that episode and listen because his story of bravery, courage, and hope under extremely challenging and often inhumane conditions is astonishing. Ken was captured by the North Vietnamese and spent 6 years and 3 months in four different prisons including the infamous, “Hanoi Hilton”.  In spite of the interrogations, isolation, torture, and primitive living conditions, God’s grace covered him and kept him from losing his sanity…his hope…or his faith in God and country. Today, we are going to cover Part 2 of Ken’s story in a segment called “Ken Cordier...Powerful Overcomer of War” and we’re going to hear about the rescue mission, the celebrations once he was back on American soil, and how God helped him overcome the challenges he faced returning home.

Ken’s book about his experience as a fighter pilot and prisoner of war is available here: Guardian Eagle - A Fighter Pilot’s Tale
